UN-5700 Line Fastener Product Selector

The UN-5700 Line stud has a special four-lead thread that operates in less than one turn. The receptacle provides a friction lock by expanding against a surrounding coil spring as the stud is engaged.

Rated locking torque is maintained over thousands of use cycles. These features are combined with the advantages of standard threaded fasteners; panel take-up, no sheet separation under load, and high tensile and shear ratings.

1. Select an appropriate head style.

2. Select a fastener size using this performance table:

Fastener size:
Major Thread Diameter (in): 3/16 1/4 5/16
Locking Torque (in-lb): 4 - 8 8 - 12 15 - 25
Tension and Shear (rated) (lb): 600 1,000 1,500
Locking Torque Retention (cycles): 5,000 5,000 5,000

3. Select a stud retainer:

4. Select a receptacle type:

Threaded Receptacle

5. Now determine the Panel, Gap, and Support thickness.

Now determine the thickness of material in which the stud is retained and to which the receptacle is attached. Then determine the total gap between the level of stud head contact with material and the level of receptacle contact, in the closed position, include any air gaps and any part of the stud retainer thickness not buried in material already measured. Refer to the examples on each receptacle page, which will guide you to the length selection table.
